Two times a year TTF volunteers to serve in the schools café and conduct campus clean-ups. Thanksgiving Dinner
The T.R.U.E. Foundation Inc. hosts an annual Thanksgiving dinner for their mentees as a way to acknowledge how thankful we are for the mentees participation in our program. The purpose of the Thanksgiving dinner is to promote an away from home family thanksgiving experience to let our mentees know that we are their extended family when they are at school.Special Olympic of Virginia
During the 2002-2003 Academic School Year TTF was very instrumental in a collaborative effort to initiate a partnership between Special Olympics of Virginia “Urban Programs” and Virginia State University. Spearheaded by one of the members of TTF they were able to compile a management volunteer team that would manage all of the volunteers. This management team complied of TTF members were able to recruit a vast amount of volunteers from the Sports Management Program in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department and student volunteers from a variety of campus organizations. This annual Track and Field Event is still held at Virginia State University and the partnership between VSU and SOVA continue to grow as they have implemented a Volleyball and Basketball competition. Every year TTF is involved in assisting as volunteers for these events staying committed to what they have helped to begin.
